Red Yeast Rice has been used traditionally in Asia for 2,300 years. It is made by culturing rice with the yeast Monascus purpureus, resulting in a bright reddish-purple fermented rice. A fermented rice product that contains the natural chemical Monocolin K, identical to statin drugs. Added plant sterols decrease cholesterol absorption, allowing the two to work synergistically to help lower total and LDL cholesterol in the blood to maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
